"Jesus loves the little children... all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white... they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves all the children of the world.' It's one of the first songs a child learns at church and for good reason. The Gospel of Christ is that simple and that profound. Jesus, God's One and Only Son, loves all the children of the world. That simple and powerful idea is what motivates and drives Mission Tampa's self-defense and martial arts programs. We want the children in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida, the United States and the World to be safe from danger and know the love of Jesus Christ. Mission Tampa's self-defense programs teach children to understand the dangers surrounding them and how to escape from danger before it hurts them. The danger might be a stranger trying to abduct them, a bully trying to hurt them, a car racing toward them or a fire burning in their home or school. The self-defense program, called "Children Escaping Danger," can be learned in a small area and limited time. Examples of learning opportunities include Sunday School classes, Vacation Bible School classes and Christian camp programs. Children learn how to move their bodies quickly and effectively to avoid danger. They often have only seconds to make a decision that can affect the rest of their life, so we make sure they know what to do, how to do it and when to do it. "Children Escaping Danger" includes exercise programs that are good for a child's health in addition to teaching them how to escape from a dangerous situation.

Grace Martial Arts is a certified self-defense program that takes a child from white belt to black belt in a Christian program that includes the best of Judo, Karate, Kenpo and Kung Fu. The goal is to teach children how to defend themselves, not fight. Teenagers and adults are also welcome to participate in the program. Many parents take classes with their children, which is a wonderful idea for a child's development and family involvement. Children develop confidence and discipline through martial arts training and skills while learning Bible verses and personal character qualities that help them become better members of their families, churches and community. As children grow in their knowledge of martial arts, they have the opportunity of helping others learn how to protect themselves.

The Mission Tampa self-defense and martial arts programs are overseen by Sensei Mark McGee, a Christian 6th Degree Black Belt with 40 years of teaching experience. He is a certified senior instructor with the Yon Ch'uan Martial Arts Federation, Confident Kid Martial Arts and Karate for Christ International. Grace Martial Arts Fellowship.
